BUSINESS VISA OPTIONS

The Federal Government's Business Migration Program aims to attract people to develop a business in Australia .  Business migrant visas apply only to people with a proven record of business skills and expertise based on the level of experience gained as a successful owner, senior executive or investor.

GUIDE TO BUSINESS VISAS

The guide below shows a number of pathways for business migrants to gain permanent residence.  The majority will enter Western Australia initially on a provisional (Temporary Residency) visa for four years and, after satisfactory evidence of specified level of business or investment activity, may apply for residence.

ALL BUSINESS VISAS

You will need to:

  • meet the requirements of one of the visas described above; and
  • meet the standard migration health and character tests.

Business visas are granted only if you (and if applicable your spouse) do not have a history of involvement in business or investment activities that are of a nature that is not generally acceptable in Australia.

Western Australian Government sponsorship is available through the Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC) for each visa category. Substantial concessions are available for successful applicants.  You can print out the State Sponsorship Guidelines and Application Forms, which are in English.

Note: 'Business' refers to an enterprise or enterprises:

  • that the applicant maintains, or has maintained, direct and continuous involvement both in management from day to day and in making decisions affecting the overall direction and performance;

  • operated for the purposes of making a profit through the provision of goods and or services (other than the provision of rental property) to the public; and

  • not operated primarily or substantially for the purpose of speculative or passive investment.
