OUTSTANDING EDUCATION

The high quality of Western Australia' s education system is recognised worldwide.  Each year over 20,000 students from overseas study in Western Australia .

Over 450,000 students attend Western Australia's five universities in Perth and over 1000 schools and colleges spread across Australia's largest state.

THE SCHOOL SYSTEM

Education is compulsory from the year in which children turn six to the end of the school year in which they turn fifteen years.

Primary Schools cover the first seven years of school life and Secondary Schools provide five years of advanced study.

CHOOSING A SCHOOL

School selection may strongly affect your decision on where to live.

There are government and private schools, with many specialist study choices. The decision on which to choose is influenced by cost, religion, culture, teaching methods, and the academic, sporting or musical talents of students.

Attending Government Schools
will cost less than $300.00 AUD per year

Attending Private or Independent Schools can cost between $1,200 AUD and $12,000 AUD
per year

GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS

There are no restrictions on children attending the government school for the area you live in.  Attending government schools outside residential boundaries depends on availability.

You can search for a school by suburb, town or district, in English, on the Western Australian Education Department's school profile system.

Permanent residency business migrants have access to all schools, colleges and universities like other Australian citizens.

Temporary residency business migrants will need to pay fees in advance for university courses and some private and government schools.  Contact the Education Department for information.

Below is a list of websites that can help you make your selection of schools:
